Straightface studios
Straightface Studios was established in 2000 as a "one-man band" working out of a spare bedroom. Since then, Straightface has grown to be recognized as one of Seattle’s most talented production houses.
Specializing in live action production, animation, and visual effects, Straightface is passionate about producing great work, delivering on time and on budget, and exceeding client expectations.
Don Lange | Principal and Creative Director
After a lengthy career in the film business, Don Lange opened Straightface Studios in 2000. Don is an Emmy nominee, known for his work as Lighting Director on Bill Nye the Science Guy as well as on countless television commercials and movies. Building upon his knowledge of lighting and production, he ventured into the world of 3D and post-production and never looked back. Now we recognize him as our leader and Creative Director.
Beckie Kelly | Executive Producer
Beckie began her career as a receptionist at an audio studio and immediately fell in love with the process of production. From there, she moved on to producing commercials for global, national, and local brands at a Seattle advertising agency. In 2009, we were lucky to have her join the Straightface team. She is our Executive Producer.
Guy Paquin | Art Director and VFX Supervisor
Guy began his career at Seattle ad agencies in the early 2000s, and joined the Straightface team as its first employee. With an insatiable desire to learn new skills, Guy is a generalist who is proficient in many disciplines within VFX and motion design. He has a knack for identifying problems before they happen, as well as devising unconventional and innovative solutions. When he’s not crafting awe-inspiring visuals, Guy can often be found preserving fossils at the Burke Museum.
Gavin Greenwalt | Director and VFX Supervisor
Gavin has spent more than half of his life with Straightface. Recruited based on his online portfolio nearly 20 years ago, you can imagine their surprise when an 18-year-old film student (albeit a student already running a commercial studio within their school) showed up for the interview. Now a Director and onset Visual Effects Supervisor, Gavin has a personal and nuanced appreciation for the pressures and opportunities faced by both crafts and thrives on finding creative solutions to leverage both the camera and computer in service of the story.
Mike Hanson | Senior Artist
With a self-taught start in computer graphics during his high school years, Mike brings more than 25 years of expertise to his current role at Straightface Studios, where he has worked for over 15 years.
